Patio Complete - Finally!

Well after some pretty intense weekends and nights of work, the landscaping surrounding our patio is finally complete.

We used close to 8 tons of rock, two trees, 100 yards of landscape fabric, 14 aluminum low-voltage lights, around $1500 worth of plantings, close to 400 linear feet of concrete curbing, 12 torches, 1 new firepit, 3 pieces of replacement siding (due to a certain grill being slightly too close to the house) and a slew of new patio furniture. I am sure I am missing something, but that is a majority of it. Thanks goes to all who had a hand in it especially Stacy who toiled with me many nights working hard to get this done.

Stacy and I got down to work with our drill sargent foreman Bailey keeping an eye on things. After a slight rain delay on Saturday we got to work. Click on the photos to see the progress thus far. We are hoping to have the weed barriers down this evening and grass planted before the weekend. Can’t wait to do some relaxing by the fire pit on those cool October nights on our finished outdoor space.

The fellas from Finishing Edge were back again yesterday to finish up the touch-up, detail antiquing and final sealing. All I can say is … WOW! The neighbors have already been over a few times to compliment and drool :). Thanks again guys.. its was a real pleasure… well minus our little mishap with the water. All in all it looks fantastic.

Day 2: Final Pour and Stamping

Today marked day 2 that Finishing Edge was at the Menecola residence. They got here early as Four Winds Concrete was going to be pulling in by 7 am. The yard was a tad soggy from the downpour last evening, but with the help of plywood the yard remained in tact. I took a bunch of photos today of the entire process along with some final shots. I also have some video that I will try and get up on the site.

I have to say it looks awesome and I have nothing but praise for Jason and his crew at Finishing Edge. CrazyGuy (Dave), Kelsey, Casey, Dan and Jason… my hat is off to you guys. I got a heck of an education on the whole process and had a few laughs along the way. The results are amazing and I know Stacy is just as excited as I am.

Tomorrow will bring the detail crew to do all of the accent colors, expansion cuts, touch up and sealing. Once they are gone the job is to get the landscaping done. Maybe the Labor day party is still a possiblity… one can only hope.

Check out the new photos they are awesome.

Day 1: The First Pour and Stamping

Well day one has come and gone. Jason and his crew arrived around 7:30 and got right to work. I headed off to work until noon, and by the time I got home my yard was full of activity. The concrete truck was already here and they had finished the form work, poured the main circle, sidewalk and the steps. They then began adding the color release agent and the stamping began. After getting some pizza in the guys and taking some time out in the shade they got back to work and finished up the main pad area with base stone and the final form work.

Tomorrow will bring another day and along with it the final 7 yards to pour, detail coloring and possible sealing and grading. These guys work fast, but continue to pay attention to detail. I caught them on their hands and knees picking fallen rocks out of the lawn while one of the guys hosed down the street. Great guys, great work, great finished . The photos are awesome but don’t even come close to what it looks like in person.

Look for tomorrows update with photos and hopefully some video.
